Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM lens when mounted on my Canon camera has become one of the most used lens in my bag and something I always take to every job photography I go out on.
The Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM is my go to lens when I am shooting in number of different situations which require the camera to work fast when there is little ambient light and need to get the pictures without thumping up the ISO on my camera.
As with all prime lens I find the quality of the resulting images are far better than most of the telephoto lens I have used but that could just be down to my own personal view and one sided view towards prime lens.
Although the Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM does fit the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Canon EOS 1D Mark III, the bodies I use, you do get dark corners in the frame but they are so small and if anything adds a little character to the picture so I tend to treat as an effect as opposed to an issue.
Originally I purchased the Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM to shoot boxing with as it seems to give me the right sort of distances needed to fill the frame and also get wider shots when needed.
It is at boxing contents the lens comes into its own for me, recently I shot some professional boxing in Hull and used just this lens mounted to a Canon EOS 1D Mark III. The camera and the lens performed amazing well and I got some of the best boxing pictures I had ever taken.
At around £300 it is quite an expensive lens but the build quality of the Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM is very good. It is quite heavy with not one thing about it feeling cheap. It does however allow me as photographer to get the shots I need, the ones that are good enough to sell and I would guess the Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM has paid for itself and some in the time I have been using it.
