This shot was taken on the River Hull on a chilly evening, again with no tripod so the camera, a Canon EOS 5D Mark II was placed against something steady. The idea of taking pictures of moving water is quite an appealing one to me but I do not often get the time, or I should say make the time to go out and just do it. Boxing remains one of the sports I really enjoy photographing and tend to use my Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM and also a Canon EF 85mm f1.8 USM The Sigma 30mm f1.4 provides me quite a wide view of the action while the Canon EF 85mm f1.8 USM allows me to get closer tighter shots of the fighters in the ring. Shooting with these two prime lenses, there are obvious issues, I cannot zoom and should the fighter’s mover to the other side of the ring the then Sigma 30mm f1.4 does not offer the reach, while same is true when using Canon EF 85mm f1.8 USM when the boxers move closer to you. Canon EF 15mm F2.8 Fisheye Fisheye was the lens of choice over the weekend as I got to shoot in a an awarding winning venue, the Asylum Club in Hull. Prime Lens : Fast Prime Lens On A Budget

As a keen fan of using a prime lens over a telephoto / zoom lens I made a purchase on eBay this week picking up a manual lens for less than £20. What I bought was a 135mm F3.5 Tele Prime Lens that has been converted to fit a Canon DSLR. This is the cheapest lens I have ever bought or own so was not expecting much from it. Canon EF24-105mm f4L : A few winter morning pictures taken using a Canon EF24-105mm f4L IS USM. The lens was mounted to a Canon EOS 1D Mark III with the pictures being taken in Beverley and Hull. It was bitterly cold this morning with plenty of frost everywhere. When I woke up I found my car totally covered in ice so took a few pictures to share on Beverley Photographer. Shooting sports I now use a Canon EF300mm F2.8L USM mounted to a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and sometimes use a Canon EF 2x II Extender. I have read many reports on the Internet about how they work but my experiences of using one are not very good to say the least. When I purchased my first camera, I went for a new one though over time, I have started to purchased used canon equipment instead.
